In 2008, my wife and I took time off from our careers to travel & volunteer in Asia and Bangladesh. It was a life changing experience, and I came back willing to make a committment to not just live in my community, but to make my life there – to be involved and active, and contribute where I can.
I also came back a patriot – profoundly aware of the wealth and benefits that all Canadians share.
This blog is one part of my committment. I also volunteer at Winnipeg’s Health Sciences Center, The Lake Winnipeg Foundation, and UMFM.
The pictures on this site are from various locations in Canada, Asia, and Bangladesh.

Was very interested in your Flikr photos taken at Traverse Bay after the the Oct.2010 storm. Obviously a lot of devastation at that location and since we have a cottage down the road at VB, was wondering if you have a cottage at Traverse or simply was recording the shoreline mess. The community of VB is currently embroiled in some controversey regarding the building of revetments and other shoreline protection schemes, and wondered if you might have some first hand knowledge of the shoreline there before the building of the revetment and the gabions. Any beach area ever in front? How long before the Gabions started to fail? How long did that revetment last before starting to fail. Any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks, Gord
